Volleyball Week Two Recap
Week 2: Tigers Sweep Road Trip with Wins Over Northwest Mississippi and Rust
Chattanooga State Volleyball had a strong showing on the road August 25, earning
back-to-back victories against Northwest Mississippi (3–2) and Rust College (3–0). The
Tigers battled through a five-set thriller in the opener before dominating in straight sets
to close the day. Several players posted career-high performances across both
matches.
Chattanooga State 3, Northwest Mississippi 2
(23–25, 11–25, 25–23, 25–23, 15–9)
The Tigers rallied from a two-set deficit to take down Northwest Mississippi in five.
Sophomore Ava Higgins led the way with 19 kills and a career-high 17 digs, while also
adding 2 blocks. Quincie Hrinik added 11 kills and 3 blocks, and Brooklyn Kasuba
contributed 6 kills and 4 digs.
At the net, MaLeah Smith set a new career high with 5 blocks (2 solo, 3 assists), while
setter Baileigh Seale kept the offense steady with 43 assists and 10 digs. Behind the
service line, sophomore Fehnly Sneed delivered a career-high 5 aces and 15 digs to
spark the comeback win.
Chattanooga State 3, Rust College 0
(25–8, 25–13, 25–10)
Chattanooga State carried its momentum into the second match of the day, sweeping
Rust College. The Tigers hit .341 as a team, paced by standout offensive efficiency from
Sydney Smith and Brooklyn Kasuba, who both posted career-best hitting percentages.
Sydney Smith tallied 10 kills on a .588 hitting percentage, while Kasuba added 7 kills on
a .545 hitting percentage.
Sophomore setter Chloe Gibson directed the offense with 29 assists and added 7 digs,
while Ava Higgins (10 kills, .529 hitting) and Madison Roach (6 kills, 6 digs) rounded out
the balanced attack. Defensively, Macy Anderson led the way with 13 digs.
With the sweep, Chattanooga State improves to 2–1 on the season. The Tigers return to
action on September 2, when they travel to take on Shorter University.
